Remembrance Hall

At Beit Vilna, a memorial room "Yizkor" was erected and on its walls are plaques bearing the names of the victims of the Holocaust from Vilnius and the surrounding area. In 2019, it was decided to name the room after the late Michael Shemyavitz, previous Chairman of the Association.

In recent years, new memorial plaques have been placed by the second and third generation members who after years of repression or disinterest in family history find their way to the Association. Israeli and foreign visitors to Beit Vilna are always escorted to the memorial room and receive a tour and explanations which they find very touching. At certain events there are memorial ceremonies in the room, most of which are run by Rabbi Shaul Farber, a member of the board of directors and cultural committee of the Association, whose father, Rabbi Kalman Farber, was a member of the town of Vilayka in the Vilna township.
