The children of the hideout: 50 stories of hidden children in the Kaunas (Kovno) ghetto, edited by Dr. Yaakov Zilberg. Deputy editor-Tamar Vidochensky-Ben Amram, 2013

"About 6,000 children were among the Jews imprisoned in the Kaunas ghetto, some were smuggled out of the ghetto walls and hidden by the local population. It is estimated that only about 300-250 of the Kaunas ghetto children survived the war. About seventy years have passed. 55 of the survivors tell of their past and most of the stories describe the family background before the war, life in and out of the ghetto, experiences in hiding, union with parents or life with adoptive parents and in orphanages. Most of the book's protagonists were too young to remember their experiences clearly during World War II. This collection of testimonies is an attempt to preserve the little that is known from those times." Back cover.
