Spector, Shmuel: Pinkas HaKehillot - Encyclopedia of Jewish Communities - Poland Vol. VIII Vilna-Bialystok-Novogrudok, 2005
The volume (Hebrew) reviews the history of more than two hundred communities in the northeastern part of Poland, on the borders between the two world wars, from their inception until their annihilation in the Holocaust. Alongside the glorious Vilna community, the volume includes other communities such as: Bialystok, Grodno and Volozhin. During the Holocaust, the Jews of Western Belarus and Lithuania were destined for an extreme and cruel fate. Along with the murder of the people, ancient communities were also lost. The book, in encyclopedic format, contains more than 650 pages in two columns and also includes a historical introduction, a comprehensive bibliography list, a list of personalities and places, photos, and more.
