Einat, Aharon, Daily Life in the Vilna Ghetto, Moreshet, 2013

The urge to write this work stemmed from a visit to Vilna in 1993, fifty years after the liquidation of the ghetto where I spent my childhood. Passing through the alleys and by the houses of what used to be the ghetto and the HKP 562 forced labor camp, not only did it take me back to the tragic days of that time, but also raised questions that did not leave me - how did all this happen, how did we manage our lives under the terrible conditions imposed on us, how did no one try to save another's life, and how, in spite of it all,  did we survive? Given these questions, it did not take me long to decide to examine in depth the history of Ghetto Vilna and its inhabitants.
