Memorial Day 2025 — Association of Jews of Vilna and vicinity in Israel

As every year, on Holocaust Remembrance Day 2025, members of the Association were invited to the Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony at the Naval Headquarters.

Unlike previous years, the ceremony was also attended by Iga Sofia Mekuteniene, the granddaughter of Righteous Among the Nations Sofia Binkiene, the Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel Audrius Brūzga, and Rimantas Stankevičius,  a researcher on the subject of Righteous Among the Nations, who were of course very moved.

The torches were lit at the ceremony by:

• Rachel Kovarsky,
• Sergey Korablikov,
• Shimon Fein,
• Sofia Mekuteniene, accompanied by Amos and Naomi Golan, whose family members were saved by Iga's grandmother,
• Rimantas Stankevičius, accompanied by Major Avri 
• The Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel, Audrius Brūzga accompanied by Mickey Kantor
