Lithuanian Writers and Their Place in the Yiddish Literature Pantheon 2025

In February 2025, amidst stormy weather, we gathered at the Vilnius House, where Dr. Mordechai Yushkovsky spoke about unknown Lithuanian writers and their place in the pantheon of Yiddish literature.

At the beginning of the evening, the attendees gathered in the Yizkor tent and witnessed the unveiling of a memorial plaque in honor of Zeev Levitan's family, which was affixed to the memorial wall.

Dr. Yushkovsky spoke about:

• Shmuel Gordon, who sought to commemorate the forgot ten artists and wrote a Yizkor for the writers who were brought to trial in the Soviet Union.
• Pesach Marek, who was one of the Jewish historians who collected hundreds of folk songs. 
• Shira Gorshman 
• Kalman Zinger, who wrote "Edenia", an utopian novel about the city of Kharkov. 
• Hirsh Oshrovitch 
• Daniel Ben Nahum
• Maurice Winchevsky
• Moshe Kulbak
