Holocaust memorial day 2021 — Association of Jews of Vilna and vicinity in Israel

On the day of the Holocaust 2021, after a difficult year due to the Korona virus, we all gathered again in Kiryat Shaul to commemorate our families who perished in the Holocaust. The first generation arrived, supported by the second generation and also the third and fourth generation were present. Commanders and soldiers of the Navy unit, adopted by the Association were also present. The Lithuanian Ambassador to Israel honored us with her presence and even read a poem written by a 19 years old Lithuanian-Jewish poet Matilda Olkinaita who was murdered by the Lithuanians.

After the ceremony, officers and soldiers of the Navy unit came to Beit Vilna to listen to the horrific tale of Motke Zeidel, told by his daughter Hana Amir.
