Eighty Two Years Since the Liquidation of the Ghetto Yad Vashem 2025 — Association of Jews of Vilna and vicinity in Israel

In September 2025, we came together at Yad Vashem to mark eighty-two years since the liquidation of the Vilna ghetto.

In the Hall of Remembrance, a memorial ceremony took place, led by Mrs. Miri Krausher. Rabbi Shaul Farber offered a prayer, and survivors Moshe Shlachtman, Sergei Korablikov-Kovarski, and Deborah Rosenzweig laid a memorial wreath.

From there, we continued into the Art Gallery. Walking through the exhibits, we encountered two powerful displays: “Journey in the Wake of Disaster” by Tal Matzliach, and Michael Falk’s moving series, “Painting the Kindertransport.” 

At the close of the event, we gathered in the synagogue, where remarks were delivered by Mrs. Mickey Kantor – Chairwoman of the Association of Jews from Vilna and Vicinity in Israel, and Mr. Audrius Bruzga – Ambassador of Lithuania to Israel.
Mrs. Naama Galil – Content Specialist, Education and Learning Division at Yad Vashem – spoke on “From Liberation to the Beginning of Recovery: Mapping the Focal Points of Rebirth for the Jews of Vilna.”
The event concluded with songs performed by Dorit Farkash.
