Book Launch of Samuel Bak’s "Painted in Words", 2025 — Association of Jews of Vilna and vicinity in Israel

On April 21, 2025, we held the launch event for the book "Painted in Words" by artist Samuel Bak at Beit Vilna. The book is an autobiography of hell, art, and hope by an artist who was a child in the Vilna Ghetto. It was published by Kinneret, Zmora, Dvir Publishing. The Hebrew edition of the book was donated in memory of the Mantovich and Gides families and made possible thanks to the Association of Vilna and Surroundings Immigrants.

Speakers at the event included:

• Audrius Brūzga, Ambassador of Lithuania to Israel
• Ms. Colette Avital, Chairperson of the Center of Organizations of Holocaust Survivors in Israel
• Dr. Chayuta Deutsch, author and editor – "Creation in a Broken World"
• Ronit Yochel Chitin, author and poet and Bak's cousin
• And a live Zoom conversation with the artist Samuel Bak from his home in Boston.
