Holocaust Memorial Day at Kiryat Shaul Cemetery 2019 — Association of Jews of Vilna and vicinity in Israel

On Holocaust Memorial Day 2019 we, Holocaust survivors and their extended families, naval soldiers and the Lithuanian ambassador to Israel assembled, as usual, at the Kiryat Shaul cemetery for a memorial service.

The ceremony was conducted by Shmuel Ben-Zvi.

Mickey Kantor, chairperson of the Association, Haya Maor Shemyavitz (daughter of the late Michael Shemyavitz), Sivan Rom, the representative of the Naval Department of Seagoing Vessels and the Lithuanian ambassador to Israel whose term of office here is about to end, addressed the audience.

Mira Sutzkever read a poem by Avraham Sutzkever and Hikki Haviv and Moshe Michlis read aloud the names of the prisoners in the Vilna Ghetto and of those who perished.

The memorial service was conducted by Rabbi Shaul Farber.
