A Memorial Evening for Aharon Einat
On the 15th of January 2019 we assembled at Bet Vilna in Tel Aviv to commemorate the first anniversary on the death of our beloved friend, Dr. Aharon Einat, who was a member of the board and an active member of the cultural committee of the Association for many years. He passed away on the 29th of November, 2018.
Bet Vilna was packed with his family, friends, colleagues and admirers.
The audience was addressed by Mickey Kantor on behalf of Bet Vilna and Miri Krausher spoke on behalf of the members of the Association; Hannah Shilo read an excerpt from his book Everyday Life in the Vilna Ghetto. Gil Paran spoke on behalf of the union of tour guides to Poland, Ofer Einat on behalf of the family and Etty Einat gave a vote of thanks.
Hilla, Aharon's granddaughter, sang the song that her grandfather loved so much. The vocalists, Rosie Klein and Gali Ben-Ari, accompanied by Regina Driker from the Yiddish song workshop founded by Nehama Lifshitz, sang Aharon's favorite songs (frieling-spring).
The Vilna-style refreshments the Association provided included dishes that Aharon was particularly fond of.
