74 Years since the Liquidation Beit Vilna 2017
On the 27th of November, 2017 a memorial service was held at Bet Vilna to commemorate 74 years since the Vilna Ghetto was liquidated and the Jewish communities in Lithuania were exterminated.
The ceremony was conducted by Shmuel Ben Zvi, a member of the board.
After the chairperson of the Association, Ms. Mickey Kantor and the head of the naval unit of seafaring vessels, Colonel Shmuel Shahak had addressed the audience, survivors who had been children in the ghetto talked about their personal experiences there. Candles were lit in memory of the martyrs of Vilna and the vicinity and Rabbi Shaul Farber read from the Book of Psalms, recited El Malei Rahamim (part of the mourner's prayer) and Kaddish (the mourner's daily prayer).
The Bet Vilna choir – conducted by Tamar Aitez, sang songs from the ghetto.
