Asael Lubotzky

Asael Lubotsky told about his grandfather Isser Lubotsky who was a partisan and member of Betar, active in the Vilna Ghetto underground, a combatant and commander of the Irgun. He served as a national recruitment officer of the Etzel and Ramat Gan group leader. He served as well as the legal advisor of the Herut Movement...

... Lubotsky was part of a partisan battalion living in the forest.  He took part in raids on German convoys and on local villages. During a battle, he was shot in the leg, the wound became infected, his body temperature rose, and his partisan comrades foresaw his death and even dug his grave. A partisan Jewish nurse, however, treated him with leaf bandages and medicines taken from a German shipment, thus saving his life. Later, the nurse’s son became a doctor and treated Lubotsky's grandson, Asael, wounded during the Second Lebanon War.
