In Memory of Chaya and Chaim Lazar 2025

In January 2025, we gathered at Beit Vilna, family members, friends, and association members, to commemorate the memory of Chaya and Chaim Lazar, who were partisans and Betar members.

At the beginning of the event, those present crowded into the Yizkor tent at Beit Vilna to install a memorial plaque in their memory.

Their daughter, Dr. Sarah Ozacki Lazar, told their story and presented Chaim Lazar's new book, "Remember and Never Forget," which she edited: "For forty-five years he kept a personal diary, in which he documented significant events in Israel, the world, and his extensive public activity as a Holocaust survivor who opposed any contact with Germany, as a researcher and writer, and as a critical member of the Herut movement. His diary presents "history from below," from the courageous perspective of an ordinary citizen, a man of spirit and action, who experienced firsthand the depths and peaks of the Jewish story in the twentieth century."

Afterwards, we heard the words of their granddaughter, Dr. Daniela Ozacki Stern, in her lecture on new aspects of research on Jewish partisans in Vilna, and Miri Yahalom the archivist, who spoke about Betar in the Holocaust and heroism and about the Chaim Lazar collection at the Jabotinsky House.
