Boris Schatz – Sculptor and Artist

In 2016, a committee of judges of the International Symposium of Medallions met at Bet Vilna to mark the sesquicentennial (150 years) of the birth of the sculptor, Boris Schatz and to mark the anniversaries of two art academies that he established: 120 years for the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria and 110 years for the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem.

38 artists from Bulgaria, Lithuania and Israel participated in the symposium. The symposium was initiated by the "Can" college of artists in cooperation with the Faculty of Metal Sculpture at the National Academy of Art in Sofia, Bulgaria and the Telšiai Faculty of Metal Sculpture at the National Academy of Art in Vilna, Lithuania.

The panel of judges met at Bet Vilna to select the best medallion of those that were made at the symposium. The artist Leo Ray, the sculptor David Zundelovitch and the designer Grisha Zundelovitch were among the participants.
