International Holocaust Day 2018
Bet Vilna in Tel Aviv hosted officers and soldiers of the seafaring vessels unit of the Navy and survivors of Vilna and Lithuania and their extended families. Colonel S. Shachak, commander of the engineering unit of the seafaring vessels, welcomed the participants to the seminar for the Holocaust and Heroism Heritage to mark International Holocaust Day. Major Y. Nagar spoke of the fascinating battle procedures in enemy territory which the flotilla task force carried out in Nablus. Unfortunately, we paid a heavy price: Sergeant Major Ra'anan Komemi, of blessed memory, was killed in the battle.
Later in the evening, Dr. Asa'el Lubotzki told how he was severely injured in the Second Lebanese War and the doctor who treated him was the son of the nurse who had rescued his grandfather, Isser Lubotzki, in World War Two.
