Adoption of a Special Education Class at Haifa High School 2011
At the initiative of the Israeli Navy, it was decided to hold an educational activity for special education students at a Haifa High School, and conduct a unique seminar on Vilna Jewry and the Righteous Among the Nations at the school. They were given a guided tour of the Ghetto Fighters' Museum. At the end of the school year, we gave the students a guided tour and a meeting with the Association' survivors at the Yad Vashem Museum, including a scholarship and certificates of appreciation distribution ceremony for the students who prepared final term papers on the subject of the Vilna Jewish Holocaust. The students held a symposium with the participation of Jacob Wexler, a native of Švenčionys, who, as a baby was entrusted by his mother to a Polish family. Jacob survived, was ordained as a priest, and discovered his Judaism in adulthood.
