International Holocaust Day 2022
Every year, the Association of Vilna and Vicinity dedicates the 2022 International Day of Remembrance to the Victims of the Holocaust to an educational seminar on heritage and heroism, in which it hosts officers and soldiers of the Naval Engineering Unit, which has been adopted for the last 11 years.
This year, due to a re-eruption of the Corona Virus epidemic and heavy snow falling in the Jerusalem area, we had to deliver Dr. Irit Abramsky's lecture through Zoom, when only 5 soldiers and a small number of Association members were gathered at Beit Vilna.
Dr. Irit Abramsky spoke through the zoom on the Holocaust of Soviet Jewry (including occupied Lithuania) from three perspectives - the murderers, the victims and the bystanders.
The Navy officer lectures through Zoom on the submarine Dakar.
At the same time, in the German Parliament, the International Holocaust Remembrance Day ceremony took place and as part of an exciting performance, in Yiddish , tenor singer Yoed Sorek, grandson of Vilna Holocaust survivor Sima Skurkowicz sang the songs "Frieling" and "Partisan Song".
