Moshe Kulbak-125 years since his birth 2021
On Monday, April 26, 2021, we gathered to mark the 125th birthday of Moshe Kulbak, a poet, prose writer and playwright, translator and Yiddish writer, one of the forefathers of modern Yiddish literature.
The event was organized in cooperation with the Center for Yiddish Culture in Vilna, which was founded by the World Jewish Congress.
Sergei Schufa, translator and researcher of Kulbak's work, talked about characteristics in his work (a recorded lecture).
Dr. Mordechai Yushkovsky, the Academic Director of the Vilna Yiddish Center, lectured on Moshe Kulbak - between Jewish popularism and European aesthetics.
Songs composed on texts by Moshe Kulbeck, were performed by Jana Jankowski accompanied by piano by Regina Driker.
A rare recording of the song "Antosha" performed by the late Nechama Lifshitz was screened.
Raya, Kulbak's daughter recited some of his songs.
